Oct. 21st, 2024 05:55 pm I swear I'm not destined to pursue art. My school's newsletter is like "Hey, IADT is doing taster workshops! Check it out!" and I go to their website and everything I want to do is full 🥲 Animation? Full. Illustration? Full. 3D modelling? Also full.
I fear this may be a sign that I should give up. 😔
On a more positive note, I attended an online Portfolio Information meeting thing while on the bus from school, which was not ideal but whatever. They showed us sample portfolios and I could fear my heart sink lower and lower as they got more and more esoteric. They said they're looking for process more so than finished product, but I don't know how to document my process! I do digital art, primarily fanart, so I don't plan my pieces any further than finding one or two references off Pinterest. They also require at least one notebook documenting process and they didn't answer how big or how long the notebook has to be so I'm in the dark there.
But my one guiding light is the fact there's no theme you have to play by. That's been a major concern of mine ever since I started researching this last year, and to hear that a theme is not required is such a god send you don't understand.
But another issue is points. I've been so wrapped up trying to even make a portfolio I forgot I'm competing in a points race and god fucking damn are the requirements high ðŸ˜

738 points for illustration?? 550 for common entry?? 538 points for moving design?? (includes animation) Guys I think I'm cooked...
