stuff like this is why I make heavy use of taking names from other characters or IRL people are applying them to my characters if I'm not personally familiar with the culture of the character I'm making. I think people worry about naming their character in a cliche manner to the point that they accidentally fly to the other end of the spectrum and name their character some stupid shit that wouldn't make sense as a real name.
For example, I have a Turkish-American character. I haven't given her a first name yet but her middle name is Gozen and last name is Atila, I named her after the musician Anadol whose real name is Gozen Atila.
No shame in ripping things from reality in order to put it your story. If anything it just makes your story better.
