Classic Dad
Jan. 22nd, 2025 07:15 amThis morning I took a risk.
I am in a surprisingly good mood despite having a test later today that I am not that prepared for, but I'm still in a good mood. Which, to be honest, has not been very common for the last couple months, so I'll take them where I can get it.
Anyways, I recently got a test back that I did last week for my best subject. I got an 81 on it, which is far below my regular score. My regular scores are 100s, 90s, basically like top marks and you want to know the reason for this? I somehow skipped an entire question.
It is on the page, I'm looking at it yet, I just didn't register it and i just didn't answer it. Now I know the answers. I can scan down the page and answer them all mentally with ease so there's no issue of me not knowing how to answer, I just forgot lol.
Now how is this a risk? I mean it's more annoying than anything because this is a stain on my otherwise perfect record, but nothing actually substantial. The real kicker comes from telling my dad.
So to cut a longgg story about my parents' and I's strained relationship short, I basically tell them nothing. Nothing about school, nothing about my interests. Because they've shown time and time again that they don't care or their reactions are negative and I end up being lectured, no matter how benign the story. This time was no different. "Why did you try again?" I hear you ask. I am in a good mood. Just felt like it.
So I tell my dad this funny story, even emphasising that despite having skipped an entire question by accident, I managed to score a H2 (A B for you non-Irish). Like that's pretty impressive, no? He did not take it well... 😬 He screwed up his face at me like he just licked a lemon and asked me incredulously why didn't I answer the question? How did I not notice? Clearly the part where I said "ACCIDENT" flew right over his head, smh.
It put a bit of a damper on my mood, but eh I'm still vibing
